5. About the Disaster
I called it Banana Republic because even in nowadays Banana Republic is a part of European Union (EU). There are still people in the EU who don’t know where Banana Republic is and what kind of food people have there!?! Recently I heard that somebody asked for the last one I wrote and I should tell you: it is offensive for the citizens of Banana Republic and it is something that somebody should be ashamed to ask such thing and don’t to know where Banana Republic is. So, I hope after you read My Blog you will know more about this place.
On 26 April 1986 01:23:44 a.m. disaster in Chernobyl happened but the live continued on its way like before, like nothing happened…
3 years ago in the Italian TV RaiUno I watched a movie - “20 years after in Chernobyl”. A journalist went there and in the movie I saw many recreated scenes of this event. It was very strong movie! Maybe you have not seen this movie, but I must say that I was shocked of what I saw in this movie - the irresponsibility, negligence and slobbery of the politicians at the highest level there. Nobody has taken what happened seriously, never warned, and children continued to play outside there, just a few kilometres from the plant. Passed days, while people begin to emigrate from the city nearby, again without saying why…
Now the city which was quite large - 30 000 / 40 000 of people is a “city-phantasm. After accident they cemented the top, and the bottom, and everywhere with thousands of tons of cement. However the uranium is continuing to work inside the cement and perhaps after no more than 50 years it could break that cement and it will continue to delve down into the ground. And if people don’t take any other protections you could imagine what could happen with underwater and so, I don’t wish to imagine another one huge disaster…
I was shocked by all I saw in the movie, by this that nobody was speaking and nobody told the truth. Maybe it could sound strange, but we all people living in Europe are affected by this radiation and have consequences, even I. But now why no one speaks about it, even the doctors, silence…
Years ago I wrote in my web site and then recently I heard something similar by a friend of mine:
We should know and remember our past to understand well the future!
This disaster is not something I would like to remember but I know I will remember it forever! And this I could do and this we all should do is to try to protect and not to happen huge Catastrophe in the future of our born and unborn children!
